At a commendation conference held by the Qinghai Provincial Party Committee and the provincial government on September 26 to honor poverty reduction achievements of the province in 2018, China Energy was once again accredited as “Advanced Organization in Helping Poverty Alleviation.”
Beginning in 2010, China Energy has been supporting targeted poverty alleviation in Qumalai County, Yushu Prefecture, and providing paired-up assistance to Gangcha County, Haibei Prefecture, in Qinghai Province. In light of the specific conditions of the poverty-stricken areas and the impoverished population in Qinghai, the group company has continuously increased its investment in ecological poverty alleviation, medical assistance, health poverty alleviation, supporting characteristic industries, promoting income of the locals, and reducing poverty through education.
In 2018, the group company allocated a poverty alleviation fund of 20.25 million yuan in Qumalai County, focusing on promoting projects such as ecological protection at the source of the Yellow River in Qumalai County, construction of dormitory buildings for teachers and students in the county’s orphan school, assisting the building of the county’s skill training center, offering e-commerce training courses, and providing training for grassroots officials. It invested a fund of 12.912 million yuan in Gangcha County, focusing on the construction of a comprehensive health center of the county, establishing a yak breeding cooperative in Checha Village, and providing training for grassroots officials.
Gangcha County had been lifted out of poverty by September 2018, and Qumalai County is expected to shake off poverty by the end of 2019.
